Why can’t students earn digital rewards for being awesome?

Seriously, what’s the difference between an A and a B?  Some random selection of skills that can be gamed?  Why not just convert learning into series of digital rewards?

This is a great idea when you think about how often have you seen students take a few technical classes and then drop out due to the boredom of the liberal art’s classes they have take for general education.

With solid metrics built into a digital reward system, like the one shown at RIT would be a great way to implement a way around the closed circuit of learning that is the 4 year degree and move to true lifelong learning.
