BarrelFish Free O/S From Microsoft: Models are broken
As the Global Warming/Climate Change researchers have shown to the world: Modeling doesn’t map to how the real world actually responds.
Barrelfish researchers are looking this very thing with the paper titled:
The paper states:
- “The goal of a computer system is to run an application workload securely, reliably, efficiently, and fast.”
It turns out that there is a growing gap between architectural research and OS research. (Which if my manager is reading this, I hope he will take note of this.)
Likely this is due to the impact of the dependency of computer researchers on models and simulations and the avoidance of using real life data. (See paragraph 2.2 before before you hit send on that email.)
