Business Contact Manager 2010: BCM Welcome Center "An error has occurred in the script on this page"

SYMPTOMS

When you click on Welcome Center in BCM you get the following script error
"An error has occurred in the script on this page"

CAUSE

The issue can appear due to one of following (or both).
1) Strict Internet Explorer security settings
2) You are using an older version of BCM 2010(4.00.9925.00).

RESOLUTION

The issue can be resolved by using one of the solutions.

Internet Security settings: You would need to disable the IE script debugging options.

•Open Internet Explorer

•Click on Tools and then Internet Options

•Now Click on the Advanced Tab

•Find “Disable Script Debugging” and check the box .

•Now, Locate the option “Display a notification about every script error” and uncheck the box beside it.

•Click Ok and restart Internet Explorer and Outlook client.

In case the issue continues with your BCM version (4.00.9925.00) then you would need to upgrade it SP1 for Business contact Manager 2010.

The other workaround would be to make a copy of the The Welcome Center html page is available in the following folder "C:\Users\User Alias\App Data \Local\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager\Welcome Center" from a working machine and pasting it on the affected client

Note: Ensure that we rename the file from the affected client before performing the copy paste action .
