Claims Picker Error

The other day I ran across an error in the new Claims Picker Dialog for a SharePoint 2010 web application configured in Claims Mode. See the screen print below regarding the actual error I was getting

Basically the cause for this error was I had the web application configured in Claims Mode using Fully Qualified URL lets say for ex https://test.foo.com, if you access the site using https://hostname URL notation you will see the above mentioned error in claims picker

It comes down to you need to make up your mind what u want to do, if you want to use fully qualified URL for instance https://test.foo.com use that when accessing the web site, if you also want to be able to access the site using the https://hostname notation, just add this URL as internal URL in Alternate Access Mappings and the claims provider error in claims picker will go away. Hopefully this will help some one someday Smile
