Network Monitor

Quite often, we need to analyze Network traces to find out if the issue is something related to IIS... or the Client... or the Network (say, firewall, proxy etc.) itself. Although we have a specialized team in Microsoft PSS (Product Support Services) who has the expertise to analyze the Network traces in general, there are quite a few things we can look at easily using the Netmon traces and make good use of it to ISOLATE the actual issue and then eventually solve the problems.

I have created a new section (TAG) in my blog where I would be discussing Netmon related stuff in general.

We have a specialist's blog on Netmon 3.0 and future versions at https://blogs.technet.com/netmon.

Here is how you can get Netmon 3.0...

* Go to https://connect.microsoft.com
* Sign in with your passport account
* Choose "Available Connections" on the left
* Choose "Apply for Network Monitor 3.0 -> (once you've finished with the application, the selection appears in your "My Participation" page)
* Go to the Downloads page (On the left side), and select the appropriate build 32 or 64 bit build.
