FOSE TO FEATURE THE FUTURE OF GOVERNMENT MOBILE APPS AT 2011 CONFERENCE

Mobile Apps Experience Will Provide Live Demos, Educational Opportunities

FOSE 2011, the most comprehensive event for government information technology (IT) professionals, today announced that it will be featuring a Mobile Apps Experience as part of its free education session lineup at this year’s event. FOSE will be held July 19-21, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

The Mobile Apps Experience live demos will provide attendees a closer look at the newest and most innovative mobile apps being developed for government across multiple platforms, including Apple iOS, Microsoft Windows, BlackBerry and Google Android. The Mobile Apps Experience also will feature multiple programs focused on the GSA app store, GSA featured apps and Data.gov. FOSE’s partnership with leading developers of mobile apps will help define mobility and its use across the federal government.

"The mobile market is booming, and in the face of increasing budget cuts, effective mobile communications are becoming essential to supporting government operations," said Suzanne Young, FOSE Show Director. "FOSE will feature mobile apps propelling agency-wide initiatives, such as telework, that are currently in motion as well as highlight secure mobile applications that are on the forefront of government."

Recognizing the importance of mobile technologies in government, FOSE is dedicating an entire track in this year’s conference to this topic, titled, Enabling the Mobile Government Workforce. The sessions will include topics on harnessing mobile web apps, social media and emerging wireless technologies for more effective government productivity, and will feature top innovations from the Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian agencies. The following five sessions will be presented:

 Federal Executive Insights on Mobility in Government
 Using Mobile Technology to Engage the Public
 The Mobile Workforce – Supporting Multiple Devices
 Warfighters on the Move –Implementing Roaming Data Centers
