Abstract

Join Marc Schweigert fora demo focused session over dinner on developing applications for Windows 7 using the .NET Framework. Windows 7 enables developers to create distinctive and intuitive applications that significantly enhance discoverability, usability, and sheer enjoyment. New methods of desktop integration put application functionality right at the user's fingertips, and Windows Explorer and Libraries provide easy access to high-value information. The Windows Ribbon control and Windows Animation framework make it easier to build interactive and appealing user interfaces. New touch application programmable interfaces (APIs) enable natural interactions through multi-touch and finger-panning, and manipulation and inertia APIs enable impressive visual effects.

In this session, you will get a high level overview of how .NET developers can take advantage of these new features using the Windows® API Code Pack for Microsoft® .NET Framework. After the overview, we will dive deeper into what is arguably the most exciting new Windows 7 developer feature: Multi-Touch.

What you will learn

Did you know?

· You can build multi-touch applications using the version of the .NET Framework that ships with Windows 7 (3.5 SP1).

· You can build multi-touch applications using Silverlight 3

· WPF 4 will make building multi-touch applications even easier

· Surface developers have a head start on Windows 7 touch development

This session will cover all these topics through a series of practical demos and will also address approaches and patterns for consistent touch development across all of these technologies.
