About the Conference
Join us for a day of developer-oriented technical sessions, featuring the Microsoft Azure Services Platform, Microsoft Virtual Earth 6.2, F# Programming Language and ASP.NET 3.5 SP1. These exciting technologies enable entirely new types of applications to be built in record time. The conference begins with a session that takes an in depth look at the tools and technologies involved in building Windows Azure cloud based solutions. The session will focus on important development issues like security, reliability, and user experience. You will also learn to create "mash-ups" of self hosted services as well as external "cloud" services and create compelling user experiences using technologies such as Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 and/or WPF during this presentation. Explore the features available in Microsoft Virtual Earth 6.2 that will allow you to create exciting geo-centric applications both on the web and the desktop in the next session. This presentation will expose you to the capabilities offered by the VE user control as well as the set of web-services that are part of this latest release.
The afternoon session begins with a presentation on F# which is a typed functional programming language for the .NET Framework. F# was designed from the ground up to be a first-class citizen on .NET, giving smooth interoperability with other .NET languages. Learn the fundamentals of F# and explore powerful capabilities built into the language for concurrent programming during this session. Service Pack 1 for Visual Studio 2008 and the .NET Framework 3.5 introduces a wide variety of new capabilities for ASP.NET developers. The final session of the day presents the new AJAX history and script combining enhancements, overviews of ASP.NET Routing, the Dynamic Data Framework, and the new MVC model. This presentation will also showcase some of the new ASP.NET Silverlight controls that ship with this service pack. In a nut shell, this session will show you what you need to know so you can take advantage of the various new capabilities that ship with Service Pack 1 for Visual Studio 2008.
The day's sessions will target Developers, Architects and Web designers, be very much demonstration oriented, and will be delivered by seasoned developers with experience in Government and Public Sector. Seize this opportunity to immerse yourself amidst these exciting new technologies!
