About the Conference

We invite you to join us for a day of developer-oriented technical sessions, featuring Cloud Services and Developing for the Cloud, Microsoft Silverlight 2 and Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8). These exciting technologies enable entirely new types of applications to be built in record time. The conference begins with a one hour session that discusses recent Microsoft technology announcements at Professional Developers Conference (PDC) on Cloud Services and its relevance to State and Local Government customers. We will discuss the architectural implications and how cloud computing will enhance Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Software as a Service (SAAS) initiatives. The session will also discuss Web 2.0 integration and how user experiences can be enhanced through rich internet applications (RIA) that leverage SOA and/or cloud services. Discover the ability to create rich, visually stunning, interactive content and applications that run on multiple browsers and operating systems in the session on Microsoft Silverlight 2. You will also learn about the benefits of Microsoft Silverlight from a developer perspective and get an introduction to building Microsoft Silverlight applications ranging from desktop-like line of business applications to data visualization and BI. This session will help you learn to leverage your .NET skills to build browser-based rich business applications. The session on Developing for the Cloud will take a deeper look at the tools and technologies involved in building cloud based solutions. You will also learn to create “mash-ups” of self hosted services as well as external “cloud” services and create compelling user experiences using technologies such as Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 during this session. The final session will explore the IE8 features particularly the tools built-in to assist developers in building standards-based web applications. By exposing how the browser interprets a Web page, the Developer Tools feature of IE8 provides many opportunities to research and resolve problems, and do it faster than has been possible with previous versions of Internet Explorer.

These sessions will target Developers, Architects and Web designers, be very much demonstration oriented, and will be delivered by seasoned developers with experience in Government and Public Sector. Seize this opportunity to immerse yourself amidst these exciting new technologies!
