About the Conference

We invite you to join us for a day of developer-oriented technical sessions, featuring Visual Studio Team System 2008 (VSTS), Language Integrated Query (LINQ), ASP.NET 3.5 Extensions Preview, and Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO). These exciting technologies enable entirely new types of applications to be built in record time. Learn how VSTS helps software development teams deliver complex software solutions more successfully. The VSTS platform provides software development lifecycle tools aimed at enforcing best practices for the roles performed by team members - project managers, architects, developers, database professionals, and testers. It also provides an integration platform that improves communication and collaboration between team members throughout the entire development process. Language-Integrated Query (LINQ) is a set of features in Visual Studio 2008 that extend powerful query capabilities to the language syntax of C# and Visual Basic. LINQ introduces standard, easily-learned patterns for querying and updating data, and the technology can be extended to support potentially any kind of data store. Visual Studio 2008 includes LINQ provider assemblies that enable the use of LINQ with .NET Framework collections, SQL Server databases, ADO.NET Datasets, and XML documents. During this presentation these powerful capabilities will be explored in the context of simplifying querying data via integrated query and transform operations, as well as simplifications in working with XML (including Visual Basic specific features). The next session discusses ASP.NET 3.5 Extensions Preview which is a new release that provides new functionality being added to ASP.NET 3.5 and ADO.NET in 2008. This presentation will delve in to the new capabilities packed into this upcoming release including ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Dynamic Data, ASP.NET AJAX, ADO.NET Entity Framework, ADO.NET Data Services, and Silverlight Controls for ASP.NET. The final session demonstrates the use of VSTO as a powerful development option for building Office Business Applications (OBA). Visual Studio 2008 represents a huge step forward in making Office development a highly productive and integrated experience. From full support for both Office 2003 and Office 2007, Word Content Controls, through full fidelity with .NET Framework security and deployment model. VSTO offers a powerful and natural option for State and Local Government developers to build solutions that integrate into their existing Office infrastructure. The first hour of this session focuses on the new and enhanced features in the newly released Visual Studio 2008. During the last 30 minutes you will learn about the Microsoft Office Open XML Format and explore some of the key capabilities that developers can take advantage of when building Office solutions.

These sessions will target Developers, Architects and Web Designers be very much demonstration oriented, and will be delivered by seasoned developers with experience in Government and Public Sector. Seize this opportunity to immerse yourself amidst these exciting new technologies!
