What

Do you collaborate with development teams in designing user interfaces for both web and desktop applications? Want to know how to take that conceptual Flash prototype or Photoshop mockup and implement your design without losing the aesthetic appeal?

Join us for a special event; our first dinner focused specifically on Designers and building Great User Experiences.  This Designer Dinner will introduce the next generation of tools for the User Experience Designer, blending the best of the Web and the Desktop.  This dinner will focus on Application Building from the Designer’s point-of-view, with the main focus on how to leverage your existing design skills.  We will introduce you to one of Microsoft’s newest tools for building Application UI: Microsoft Expression Blend.  Microsoft is a tool that allows the designer to be a “Designer” and work in an environment that is familiar to designers, yet provide developers with a design project (i.e., Visual Studio solution) that they can pick up and write the code behind the design.  That’s right: Microsoft Expression Blend shares the same Solutions file format as Visual Studio, so the designer and developer can collaborate on an application (round trip style).

What you will learn:

  • How to import Photoshop and Expression Design graphics into your layout
  • How to leverage your existing Flash knowledge to create reusable 2D animations
  • How to push the UI limits with Video and 3D animation
  • See how the Designer and Developer share the same solution file and can “round-robin “ between the Designer in Expression Blend and the Developer in Visual Studio 2005.

Note: This will be a Designer-centric talk; there will be plenty of demonstrations of the Designer tool with minimal (if any) code demonstrations.

Who should come?

This Dinner is focused on Designers.  So, if you are a Web/Application Designer, or a developer who would like to see the future of how Designers and Developers will be able to collaborate in the near future, then this is for you.  If you design in Photoshop or build Adobe Flash applications, then this is also for you.

WIN (1 copy of each raffled @ the end of the dinner to 1 winner)
