Abstract

Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and formerly codename “Avalon”, is a part of the Microsoft .NET 3.0 Framework for building high-end graphical User Interfaces for .NET applications running on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and the new Windows Vista systems.  The Windows Presentation Foundation allows developers and designers to take advantage of the full graphic generating power of modern computers.  Allowing .NET developers to weave 2D and 3D graphics, images, and real-time video into User Interfaces built on the .NET Framework.

What you will learn

  • How WPF allows you to build graphically impressive user experiences you never imagined possible with Microsoft technologies
  • How designers and developers can work with different tools (designer tools and Visual Studio) yet work within the same project (Visual Studio Solution).  No more trying to replicate Photoshop designs to .NET UI’s.
  • How WPF allows you to build an application that can simultaneously targets both “standalone” desktop apps and apps hosted within a web browser, yet with the same level of detail and features (e.g., 3D, Media, Graphics)
  • Learn about Microsoft’s new markup language, XAML (eXtensible Application Markup Language) to declaratively define your UI.
  • How you can incrementally integrate WPF, while preserving existing UI technology investments (e.g., Win Forms, Win32, ActiveX).

Who Should Attend

Developers and Designers who want to understand the new Microsoft User Interface tools and technologies for building better and more flexible applications.  This talk will be focused on Developers and Designers with some PowerPoint and a lot of demonstration.
