If you aren’t familiar with this project, here’s a snippet from the workspace description:
“A deep understanding of the issues involved in migrating deprecated technologies is essential to a successful migration. Microsoft patterns & practices guide will provide proven assistance in the processes and techniques for successful migration of Visual Basic 6.0 applications to Visual Basic .NET.”
This comprehensive (600+ pages) VB6 upgrade isn’t complete without the migration assessment tool that was built specifically as a companion to the guide. The 1.0 version of the tool is complete!
The guide and the tool will be released on the patterns & practices site soon. If you want to get your hands on the final tool and the content complete guide (waiting on page layout and link cleanup), you can join the gotdotnet workspace here.
As always, we want to hear from you about this or anything else you want to share with us. Don’t hesitate to give us feedback here.
