Seattle is One of America’s Most Photo-Friendly Cities

Seattle Skyline

When I moved here about 5 years ago, I definitely was excited to live in Seattle. It’s beautiful mountain air, abundant lakes, and all the trees give it that Emerald City glow...  Seattle is a very photogenic city and also a photo friendly one! named Seattle number six overall based on the number of criteria they used including; air quality, rainy/snowy days, museums and galleries, and camera stores.  Yes, Seattle can be rainy, but when it shines it really shines.

Snoqualmie Falls  Pike Place Market

Beyond the weather Seattle ranked very highly in the categories like camera stores, parks and zoos, and museums and galleries.  A few places that definitely lifted Seattle to the upper echelon of those categories are places like Glazer’s Camera, the Olympic Sculpture Park and Art Wolfe’s gallery

Glazer’s offers all things photographic, a friendly staff and a great rental department.  You can’t go wrong with a visit to the Olympic Sculpture Park, the artwork is amazing and the view is inspirational.  Our friends at Art Wolfe’s not only have Art’s gorgeous images on display but also offer a variety of classes throughout the year for all levels of aspiring photographers.

One more personal favorite is the Washington Park Arboretum where you can walk through 230 acres of the internationally recognized green space right on the shores of Lake Washington.

All those beautiful things add up to Seattle’s sixth spot on the list only beat out by great cities like Denver, San Francisco and Austin.  Thanks PopPhoto’s Neal Matthews for going through all the calculations and I hope the list inspires folks to check out what Seattle and all the other cities have to offer photographers!
