Wins 2009 POYi Award of Excellence

Congratulations to Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, and Microsoft Icon of Imaging, Deanne Fitzmaurice who has once again been honored by her peers for photographic excellence.  This time the honor was bestowed during judging at the 66th Annual Pictures of the Year International competition which is supported by the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute www.rjionline.org and the Missouri School of Journalism.

Deanne's images of "Frank & Joe", a story that ran in Time Magazine's Best Pictures of 2008 issue last November, has now won the Award of Excellence in the General News Reporting category. An impressive awards program presenting the winners is scheduled for the annual POYi Education and Awards Program to be held in Los Angeles at The Annenberg Space for Photography on July 10-11.

POYi will be working with the Annenberg Foundation hosting this extraordinary ceremony recognizing of the world's best photojournalists and the two-day event is free to anyone wishing to attend.
