Improving the PowerShell feedback experience with UserVoice

Joey Aiello

Since the early days of PowerShell 1.0, the PowerShell Team has been using Connect to manage customer feedback, feature requests, and bug reports, enabling us to have a continued pulse on the needs of the PowerShell community. However, in responding to your feedback, we also realize that Connect is starting to show its age and that our cloud cadence demands a feedback platform that drives rapid and direct engagement with the PowerShell Team.

Starting today, we’re joining the rest of Windows Server by opening the doors on the PowerShell forum within the Windows Server UserVoice. The move to UserVoice will allow us to respond to and act on your feedback and feature requests by automating closer integration with our internal work/bug tracking systems. We will also continue to triage bugs regardless of their vote count but prioritize reports with more votes.

As part of this transition, we have automatically migrated some of the more recent and popular feedback from Connect to UserVoice. We will be leaving Connect open as a read-only site until the end of December; so if you have an open ticket on Connect that didn’t make the cut, please make sure to repost it on UserVoice before 2016.

Unfortunately it was not possible to migrate vote counts. However, the top of each suggestion description contains a note containing the original vote count. Feel free to vote on these items to give us a more up-to-date measure of relative importance.

As a note, we still recommend that you submit feedback for our open-source projects via GitHub Issues, as it allows us to track all work and bugs for those projects in a single location.

We look forward to seeing you on our new UserVoice. If you have any feedback on UserVoice or our overall feedback process, feel free to leave your comments here or on UserVoice.

Thanks,
Joey Aiello
