Day 1: TechEd Developers in Barcelona

PowerShell Team

I’m finally here at day one of TechEd Developers in Barcelona.  The trip from Seattle is long and hard.  So long and hard that my bags couldn’t make it.  They decided to hang out in Coppenhagen for a while.  That explains why I’m walking around looking like Don Johnson (if you are too young to remember Miami Vice, just count your blessings, they are more than you know 🙂 ).  I’m an experienced enough business traveller to keep a day’s worth of essentials in my carry on bag but I learned that trick back when I had a beard so I’ll need to update my list of essentials to include a razor.   Enough of that nonsense.   I’m here at TechEd and TechEd rocks!

I love coming to these conferences because you get to hang out with really smart people.  Today I went to Bob Beuchemin’s talk on scripting SMO.  Bob started using PowerShell 3 days ago and used it to demonstrate SMO.  I was shocked at the things he was able to do with just using PowerShell for 3 days and how cool SMO was.   It either says something about PowerShell or something about Bob that he was able to do such a good job after only using it for 3 days (perhaps it says something about both).  Bob’s blog is at http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/bobb/  and he posted an entry about the talk and included the scripts he used and his profile file at: http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/bobb/2006/11/07/SMOAndPowershellBetterTogetherTheScripts.aspx

 It was a great talk.
