PowerShell Month Begins!!!!

PowerShell Team

Windows PowerShell Scripting Contest on TechNet ScriptCenter

(Nov 1 – Dec 15 2006)

Want a chance to win one of over 150 prizes, including one of two, all-expenses paid trips to Redmond, WA to meet the Windows PowerShell team? Or maybe one of 12 Xbox 360 Core gaming machines? Or one of the dozens of prizes provided by PowerGadgets or a copy of Sapien’s PrimalScript 4.1 and Windows PowerShell: TFM book. That’s more than $13,000 in prizes and over 150 prizes. And all you have to do is write a Windows PowerShell script and submit it as part of the Windows PowerShell Scripting Sweepstakes. Enter as often as you wish and prizes will be randomly selected from valid submissions via the Sweepstakes Submission page. Scripts should carry out a system administration task in Windows, and must do more than simply call a Windows PowerShell Cmdlet.

Do you really want to win a prize? Your odds are best if you submit scripts in all categories as we award prizes per category. Read the complete breakdown of prizes to be awarded per category.

You can submit scripts in any (or all) of 12 different categories, including the following:

Active Directory

SQL Databases

IIS 6.0/7.0

Networking

Partner Category: PowerGadgets and NSoftware Network Management Cmdlets (free downloads)

Hardware Asset/Hardware Configuration

Inventory: Hardware, Operating System Settings, Installed Applications and Updates

Registry/Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)

File System (quotas, permissions, etc.) or File Tasks (text files, XML, HTML, etc.)

Exchange Server 2007

System Center Operations Manager 2007

Other Category (any useful script for customizing Windows PowerShell or managing systems via Windows PowerShell; Heck if you want to submit a GUI layered over cmdlets, we will consider that as a valid submission)

You can enter multiple scripts and in multiple categories; however, you can only win one prize package. Prize winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries in each category. Grand prize winners will be randomly selected from the complete pool of eligible entries.

Windows PowerShell team members will post on some of their favorite submissions during the contest.

Edit to clarify some questions:

– You can submit as many scripts as you like

– You can submit more than one script to a single category

– We can send t-shirts and books less than $50 internationally. We need to determine whether the books are less than $50 US.
The limit is required by United States Internal Revenue Services and varied
  international laws.

So yes – PowerShellers outside of the United States can enter both for the chance to win a t-shirt (possibly a
book) and the chance to be recognized by the PowerShell team as having written a script that they admire.

– The contest ends in 2006, not 2007 🙂
