PIX 1810.24 – Support for final DirectX Raytracing API

Austin Kinross (MSFT)

Today we released PIX-1810.24, which adds support for the final DirectX Raytracing (DXR) API that’s part of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (a.k.a. “RS5”). This release also fixes miscellaneous other bugs, including an incompatibility between PIX and the latest AMD 18.40+ drivers.

Features available in PIX to help developers debug their DXR applications include:

  • The Acceleration Structure Viewer
  • The Shader Table Viewer
  • The API Objects view, where you can see the contents of your State Objects
  • Many of the PIX features available to non-DXR applications, including the Texture/Buffer Viewer, Timing Data (in both GPU Captures and Timing Captures), Warnings, Resource History, and Pixel History

Please note that PIX can no longer be used to debug applications that use the experimental DXR API that was announced during GDC 2018. Developers still using the experimental DXR API should strongly consider moving their applications to the final DXR API. If necessary, version 1810-02 of PIX can be used to debug the experimental DXR API.

As always, please feel free to use the feedback button in the top-right corner of PIX to contact us about any issues you encounter, or to give any feedback that you have about PIX.
