BarCamp is coming to NYC - 9/30 thru 10/1

BarCamp is coming back to New York City for a second round!  I'm happy to announce that BarCamp NYC will be hosted at the Microsoft office in midtown Manhattan.  (The first round of BarCamp in NYC took place last January.)

What is BarCamp?  BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.  It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.  Check out BarCamp.org for more information

I've never been to a BarCamp before, but have spoken with others who have and I can't wait.  From what I understand, BarCamp is similar to some of the Code Camp events that have been held recently up and down the east coast.  However, there are quite a few differences.  Be prepared to participate! Nima Dilmaghani, my fellow DE from San Fran, wrote a post just today about the differences between the two.

Here's one big difference:  Notice that the title of this post uses the word "thru", not "and". :)  Yes... we're going to put the 'camp' in BarCamp!  BarCamp will run for about 36 hours straight through the night.  (BYOSB... that is... bring your own sleeping bag!)

Planning is underway right now on the details of BarCamp.  If you are interested in helping with the BarCamp planning, join the BarCamp NYC Planning group at Google here.  In fact, some of the organizers will be having a planning meeting in person Thursday night at 7pm in the village

There's a limited amount of room at BarCamp, so if you're interested in attending, sign up now before it fills up!

I'll post more details about the event as it draws closer.  However, watch the BarCampNYC2 site for the latest information.  In the meantime, if you're interested in helping out by speaking, please visit the site and add a session to the Proposed Sessions list!  The session schedule gets hacked together on the morning of the event.
