How do I preserve cell formatting in Excel 12?

If you are using Excel 12, and if any matrix style is used or the cell style of the data cell is changed, refresh will blow away the customer formatting and use the specified cell style instead.

In order to keep the customer formatting, user needs to set matrix style to “None” and use the default cell style definition for data cell. Here is how you can do this:

  1. In the report property dialog, select the matrix, in the property pane, he can set the matrix style to None, or
  2. Click any cell within the matrix will enable the “Matrix Style” button on the PerformancePoint Ribbon. Clicking on the button will launch the matrix style dialog.

Once you set it to “None”, you can format your report or form template anyway you want and we should preserve the formatting during refreshing.
