Sibos 2013 - Countdown to Dubai

Geographically and culturally it is difficult to imagine two more different locations between the last Sibos in Osaka Japan, to this year in Dubai. One constant however is that regardless of location, Sibos remains the top global banking conference. With just four weeks to go, I am excited that the Microsoft team is finalizing preparations for our Sibos presence. I thought I would take this opportunity to share a brief preview of our key focus areas for the event.

This year our worldwide financial services leadership team will be on hand to discuss how Microsoft is transforming financial services with the cloud and devices in banking and capital markets. Our discussions and demonstrations will pivot around the following key topics:

  • Mobility innovation -  through the use of Windows 8 devices. We will be featuring the latest devices, productivity software and apps at our Windows Device Center.
  • Client Centricity – Next Generation Customer Relationship Management with Dynamics CRM.
  • Business Insight – Powerful Customer, Risk and Performance Analytics delivered by the Microsoft Big Data and Business Intelligence stack featuring SQL Server and Office.
  • Core Operations - High Performance Payments, Banking and Trading Platforms based on SQL Server.

Readers of previous blog posts will know I have tremendous passion in payments modernization. Appropriately, we will also be showcasing a Payments Platform as a Service solution that allows banks to transform payments from a transaction business to an information business using big data, the Microsoft Azure cloud, and mobile devices. I'll cover the payments and big data theme in more detail during the next few weeks as we count down to Sibos.

For the third year running I am also thrilled to be hosting BIAN - the Banking Industry Architecture Network- on our stand. BIAN is a global, member driven, not-for-profit association with the mission defining a common yet exceedingly flexible SOA framework for the banking industry. BIAN's goal is to define semantic SOA  definitions for the banking industry. Executive Director, Hans Tesselaar will be on hand to provide deeper insights into how BIAN is driving useable standards in banking modernization. I'll be interviewing Hans on this blog a little nearer the event.

Check in regularly updates and perspectives on the innovative solutions being demonstrated on our stand. Email us if you would like to schedule a meeting with Microsoft financial services leadership team and come to see us all at Stand D108, just adjacent to the main SWIFT stand.

I look forward to seeing you there!
