Windows Media Center Extender Trial

I took home a Linksys Media Center Extender overnight to try out last night.  This is a fantastic device which requires a Windows Media Center 2005 PC to work.  You can watch all the same media types with this device that are available to the Windows Media Center 2005 PC.  And this works at the same time as another person is watching media on the main Windows Media Center 2005 PC.  I plugged it onto my existing home LAN and connected up a TV and tried it out.  I had thought that this would be a good device for a second TV in another room.  After trying it out though I would like to move my Windows Media Center 2005 PC to a study where it's noise wont bother anyone and use the Media Center Extender in our lounge for our main media viewing,  It is silent and looks like a DVD player so fits nicely under our TV.  It also has component video output which gives a really nice sharp picture on my TV.  It's so hard to get a good video card with reaelly great TV picture output.

I am in the process of building a PVR box, based on the Hauppauge PVR350 card (TV out on this rocks), Windows XP, and GB-PVR, a free PVR app written in C# by a local developer. All in all a very cool project. Enjoy MCE Paul, and good luck in Redmond! Cheers Andy
