Microsoft Innovation Center - Lahore is arranging a Windows Phone Hackathon, specially
designed for all levels of software developers, ranging from beginners to experts.  Experts
will be competing for some of our fantastic prizes, and beginners will gain tremendous knowledge
by participating in the event.

  All developers will get a chance to meet experts and share knowledge.   There will be tutorials, resources and Workshops for all the participants.   You will get a chance to build the app you've always wanted.   You can also be the winner by competing and presenting your idea and product.

 Rules

  To compete in the Hackathon, you can build apps for Windows Phone 8 or Windows Phone 7.5.

  • Ownership and IP: Teams have full ownership of everything they build at the event.
  • Team size: Teams can not have more than 2 members.
  • Judgment Criteria: Everyone's apps will be judged upon the following criteria.

    • Innovation
    • Implementation
    • Sustainability
    • Presentation
    • Coolest feature (audience attraction)

Learning Resources

  • Setting up your Development Environment for Windows Phone
    • Installing Windows 8:   To develop for Windows Phone 8 you need to have Windows 8
      installed. Luckily. Note: if you have Windows 7 installed you can develop for Windows
      Phone 7.5 apps but not Windows Phone 8 apps.
    • Installing Visual Studio: Development for Windows Phone or Windows 8 apps is done
      through Visual Studio.
    • Installing the Windows Phone SDK: You can install the Windows Phone SDK from here.
      This will install everything you need to build Windows Phone apps and will also let you
      install an express copy of Visual Studio if you have skipped step 2.
    • Create Your First App: Follow the "Create your first app Tutorial" from the windows phone
      dev site to familiarize yourself with the Visual Studio environment.
