For the Point Of Service market, Microsoft was proposing Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 till now, an installable OS based on Windows XP Embedded. Now you can download the next version of POSReady that is based on Windows 7. In addition to benefit from Windows 7 features, POSReady 7 brings specific features that will allow for more secure kiosks, self-Check-in machines, Cash Registers,… These features include

  • Write filters for creating stateless or semi-stateless environments, where basically you can turn your system files into read only ones.
  • Capture for automatic or customized dialog message boxes treatment (great to ensure the final user doesn’t see a popup window stating that the machine has switched to DST time and ruins the experience on the machine).
  • a Keyboard filter for suppressing unwanted keystrokes such as CTRL + ALT + DEL, ALT + F4, WINDOWS + L, and enabling custom keystroke combination.
