Although Garden Genie is a team effort I want to specifically call out Mohit Singh, as a fantastic example of a passionate developer participating in the NZ development community to drive results.

Mohit has worked closely with the NZ DPE team and especially Ryan Tarak as a mentor over the last four years

•             Imagine Cup contender 2010-2012 (3 years)

•             Microsoft Student Partner 2011-2012 (2 years)

•             Intern at DATACOM 2013-present

Since joining DATACOM he has moved quickly being involved with the Sealord Windows 8 app that contributed in part to Datacom winning MSNZ partner awards last year (Microsoft Country Partner (NZ) of the Year, Microsoft (CRM) Partner of the Year, Partners Choice CIO of the Year: Neville Richardson from Sealord Group)

Mohit also built the Eventfinda Windows 8 top app in NZ outside his day job in H1 and spoke about it at TechEd and helped to mentor other student partners to lead the Summer Student Programme at the University of Auckland in December.

Mohit Singh lead the technical execution, bringing in his expertise of both Dynamics CRM and modern Windows app development. Singh say's "it's a lot easier now to develop now on the Microsoft stack than ever before, with improvements in Visual Studio tooling and the Windows Phone technology. This meant that we could build a full working prototype app for windows phone with Dynamics CRM integration for suppliers within just 48 hours, This left the judges very impressed!”

GardenGenie have also signed up to Microsoft’s BizSpark Start Up program, utilizing the Windows Azure services which comes free as part of BizSpark.

This isn’t the first time that Microsoft Start-Up companies have seen success at Auckland Startup Weekend in NZ with TranscribeMe (NZ BizSpark One & Azure ISV) taking out the title in 2011.
