MSDN Flash: MIX09 Special

MIX09 Special

Dear MSDN Flash reader,

As you may well be aware MIX09 took place earlier this month in Las Vegas.
There were some huge announcements including the release of the Silverlight 3 Beta, IE8, .NET RIA Services, Microsoft Web Platform Installer 2.0 Beta, Microsoft Expression Blend 3 Preview and SuperPreview.

The Silverlight 3 Beta continues Silverlight’s track record of rapid innovation - introducing more than 50 new features, including support for running Silverlight applications out of the browser, dramatic video performance and quality improvements, and features that radically improve developer productivity. Get started with Silverlight 3, watch the training videos.

Kiwis featured heavily at the MIX09.

1) Grant Archibald won a free ticket to MIX09 for telling the story of the three little pigs in Silverlight. This lead to Grant spending 10 minutes talking with Scott Guthrie at a VIP party in Vegas.
2) Intergen was front and centre with their Accessible Silverlight Application called Buttercup Reader.
3) SilverStripe presented in the MIX09 keynote for their inclusion in the new Web Platform Installer.
In great Microsoft style all of the 124 sessions at MIX09 are available for you to download at https://videos.visitmix.com/MIX09/

The top sessions to date are
1) What's New in Microsoft Silverlight 3
2) Building Amazing Business Centric Applications with Microsoft Silverlight 3
3) The Future of Microsoft Expression Blend
4) Sketch Flow: From Concept to Production
5) File|New -> Company: Creating NerdDinner.com with Microsoft ASP.NET Model View Controller(MVC)
6) See through the Clouds: Introduction to the Azure Services Platform

As mentioned in the previous Flash we still have a limited number of WPF In A Box training DVD’s to send out to you as well.
