Dawn Does 1st Triathlon, The Danskin

My wife has been training and preparing for months to do the Danskin Sprint Triathlon, which is a 1/2 mile swim, a 20k bike, and a 5k run.  She just did the whole thing on August 20th in just 2 hours!  Congratulations Dawn, I'm so proud of you!!!

It was an amazing event.  Over 3,800 participants.  Dawn was training with a group of ladies led by a Danskin trainer, and she even took additional swimming lessons at our gym.  I must say, she is a considerably better swimmer than I am!

Now that she has knocked this event out of the ball park, she is looking to the next great thing.  She is also actively recruiting more ladies for the next Danskin tri.  So get this, she feels that her most difficult part was the running, so now she is training for a full blown 1/2 Marathon!  This is a 21k run (13 miles) alone, that's a good 2hrs of just running.  Wow.  Now I feel all inspired to learn to swim well enough to try a tri too.

Way to go Dawn!!

BTW, her next event is the Iron Girl 5k she is doing with her Mom later this month.  This one is for charity and Dawn is raising money for the Ulman Cancer Foundation.  The UCF helps young adults with cancer, and Dawn is doing this in memory of one of our dear friends and groomsmen, Curtis Fletcher, who passed away from testicular cancer just last year at the age of 26.  If you'd like, please feel free to make a donation to the UCF towards Dawn's fundraising.
