Welcome to the Developer Hangout Blog

I have been writing software for many years now and have
chased down quite a few new languages and technologies when they are fresh,
new, and exciting.  I have come to the
realization though, that when the dust settles, most technologies or
improvements are incremental changes over previous technologies and evolution
of technology happens too slowly for my taste.

I understand that sometimes change is uncomfortable to
people, and it comes at a cost. Also, it makes sense to manage risk to your
business.  But there seems to be many
more people dedicated to finding what can happen next, rather than what software
could be like long term.

I like to think out of the box. Sometimes so far out of the
box that people get uncomfortable.  Out
of the box thinking shows me the direction that a technology or combination of
technologies can go and helps to decide if it is worth exploring further.  There is always the possibility of trimming
down scope and making incremental improvements to existing products later if
deemed worthwhile.

I also like to take new technologies and apply them to old
problems or problem areas that have seen little change to see if big
improvements can be made.  This requires
a lot of time to learn the new technologies and understanding how they work.

If you like thinking out of the box, exploring new ideas, talking
about code, applying new technologies to old problems, and thinking what could
be the future, then this blog could be for you.
If you prefer to play it safe and talk about the next version,  or stay with what you know, then you may not
feel comfortable here.

In this blog, I will also point out interesting tools and technologies
from time to time that may contribute interesting solutions to problems. I
would also like this blog to be a connecting place for people who like to think
in this way, and share pointers to interesting technologies of which others may
like to explore.

Thanks for reading and participating in my blog, and I hope
you bring your inspiration to think beyond the next release with you.
