First real post

Its been a while since I posted anything. Let me start by talking about the team I work in and the fine products that we are building.

I am a part of the Visual Studio Trinity Team here in Redmond. We receently shipped Visual Studio Tools for Office 2005 (VSTO, in short) and are working on the first version of Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VSTA). Both products are exciting and are targeted at providing extensibility mechanisms (design time and runtime add-in development support) using managed code. As the name suggests, VSTO allows users to deploy managed assemblies to program against MS Office object model and VSTA provides a .NET extensibility model for applications. (Read here to see how Visual Studio talks about VSTA).

I am fairly new to the team and have been involved in devloping tools for the VSTA SDK. The SDK is expected to be out soon along with the Visual Studio SDK. I will put the link here once it is released! For now Ive switched over to working on VSTO and as I learn more about the product I will share my ideas, insights and knowledge on this blog. So watch out for this space!
