SQL Server 2005 SP4 released

SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 (SP4) has been released, as announced on the SQL Server Release team’s blog.  SQL Server 2005 Service Packs are cumulative, and this Service Pack upgrades all levels of SQL Server 2005 to SP4. You can use this package to upgrade any of the following SQL Server 2005 editions:

·         Enterprise

·         Enterprise Evaluation

·         Developer

·         Standard

·         Workgroup

SQL Server 2005 SP4 includes SQL Server 2005 SP3 Cumulative Updates 1 through to 11, customer requested fixes, along with instances of the SQL Server 2005 SP4 database Engine support for DAC operations.

The direct download for SQL 2005 SP4 can be found here.

This release now means that the end-of-support date for SQL Server 2005 SP3 will shortly be announced based on the standard Microsoft support lifecycle policy that provides for a 12-month overlap of support when a new SQL Service Pack is released.  At the time of this email this information has not yet been published on the official SQL Server 2005 lifecycle site, https://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=2855, but the expected end-of-support date is 10 January 2012.
