Live Communications Server 2005 with Windows Messenger 5.1


We had query from a customer on how to disable video and voice on Windows Messenger via SIP to Live Communications Server – Details below: –

Messenger should also respect the Netmeeting settings from GPEdit.exe.

  1. You can also utilize the rtcclient.adm template and a GPO to perform a similar function. The RTCClient.adm template comes with LCS 2003 and LCS 2005.

    The LCS 2005 server install and the LCS 2005 administrative tools install place this in the %windir%inf (generally C:windowsinf) directory. You can then build an Active Directory GPO for this and apply it to the machine or to the user.

    Granted, it won’t affect a user with a home PC…but it is also hard to edit the registry on a user’s home PC. *wink*
