Making Vista SP1 Available for Technical folks sooner

Last week we RTM'd the SP1 release of Vista. I installed it, and have to say that this is a major improvement in performance and stability ( I have a VAIO which hated to be docked ).

So I am really impressed, and I think that most of you will be too, but there has been a lot of conversations on the net, because the release has not been made available to the general public, based on the fact a small number of drivers do not re-install themselves correctly with SP1, and it we need to provide time for the driver adjustments to be made.

But for the technical audience, we have no problem in manually uninstalling/installing drivers if they do not work, so we should make sure that we get this out to the people that are most excited.

So based on feedback, this is the new plan of record for getting your hands of Vista SP1 ( outside of Microsoft Update )

  • Late last Friday we made SP1 RTM available to individuals and companies who participated in the SP1 beta program

  • At the end of this week we will be making the English version of Windows Vista SP1 available to Volume Licensing customers.  Other languages will follow soon after

  • Later this month, SP1 will be available to MSDN and TechNet Plus subscribers
