image Today at the O’Reilly Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco Steve Ballmer will unveil the Popfly Beta. The big news is that we will have removed the invitation-only requirement: Popfly will be open to the world!!!

So what else is new?

Vista Sidebar and Live Gadgets

Popfly can now create both Vista Sidebar gadgets and Live Gadgets and on very soon, we’ll enable you to submit your Popfly gadgets directly into the Windows Live Gadget Gallery. 

Better tweaking

In the Last Alpha iteration we introduced “tweaking,” so users could modify a mashup without opening the full editor. For this iteration we’ve added tons of properties to our output blocks so tweaking is more powerful and we’ve added a color picker so users don’t have to remember color codes.

New and updated blocks

Last time around we added block categories; this time we’ve added a category specifically for new and updated blocks.
