  1. Capone says:

Unfortenately the missed and overwritten translations in CU08 is not fixed.

Example see the captions to field "Res. Qty. on Sales Returns" in table 27. Affected version is Sweden and perhaps some other contries.

  2. Jens Glathe says:

We had a discussion in the german forum regarding captions. According to Carsten Scholling, it is default procedure in the NAV development team to overwrite local captions (when ENU changes) with the ENU string. For hotfixes (also cumulative updates) they won't be translated.

I wouldn't say this is the worst possible option for us partners, but it is close to it. We have to translate the changed captions ourself. Every time the same object gets a new fix the caption is reversed again. Should the translated caption eventually be there, chances are that this wil pop up as a diff again (different translation possible). And this must be done by every partner that has customers that get CU fixes. Or maintains AddOns. Including merging the customer's changes.

Just to keep track of this mess, you just *have to* use a revisioning system. You can't keep up otherwise. It would be an improvement to have access to the repositories of the NAV team, or at least to know how they're working. It would be far better if we can get a warning (or a list) that captions have changed. Today, it's poring over the visual diff of the source code. This is no safe way to do this; isolating caption changes is either tedious or an extra step (export language, import CU objects, export language again, compare). The chances that you overlook one or a few are high.

Remember, every partner has to do this to keep up. What a fscking waste of resources.

    with best regards

  3. Martin says:

Is there a problem with renaming companies with this version?

  4. Pallea says:

@Martin – I have just tried using both cmdlet and running Company table without any problems. Do you get an error ? (Did you rund the cmdlet as Administrator?

  5. Martin says:

@Pallea – Yes i'm running powershell as Admin. Result in powershell: Rename-NAVCompany : The server "<MIDDLETIERNAME>" was unable to process the request. Close the application and start it again.

And in the windows application log:

    Type: System.NullReferenceException

Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

If I do the same for the Cronus Demo database the rename action is successful. So I will have to do some investigating what is wrong in our database.

  6. Pallea says:

Could it still be a permission issue? Like lets say you have tables that your License-file does not have access to?

Try do do it directly from NAV. Start your development client and Run the table 2000000006 – Company. Make sure that you are NOT in th company you want to delete. Delete the record.

IF it not deletes the company you should get an error telling you why.
