The new application merge utilities install when you choose the Developer option in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 Cumulative Update 9 Setup, or if you add the development environment to another installation option.

For more information, see the MicrosoftDynamicsNAV2013R2CU9_MergeApplicationObjectSourceFiles.pdf whitepaper, which is attached to this blog post. We will also write about the new cmdlets here on the blog.

  1. Kenneth Fuglsang says:

    Very nice to see the increasing focus on the upgrade process and management of objects using PS.

    I hope that a future release brings TFS/git into the development process.

  2. deVch says:

    I'am looking foreward to using the AMU for the next CU merge, well done!

    As we speak of TFS Integration, will there be anything from Microsoft in the future? We need to know if we should go the 3rd party route or wait for MS to solve this.

    Also what are the future plans for the AMU tool? will there be more?

  3. B. Hochstetter says:

    Please send me a fix for the new feature which mutliplies the reservation entries with each planing if I use the production type order.

  4. NSN says:

    After upgrading to CU9, I get one major issue:

    the following code (Calendar is record of Date)…

     Calendar.SETRANGE("Period Type",Calendar."Period Type"::Date);

     Calendar.SETRANGE("Period Start",010714D,310714D);

     IF Calendar.FINDSET THEN

         ERROR('%1%2',Calendar."Period Start",Calendar.GETFILTERS);

       UNTIL Calendar.NEXT = 0;

    … shows the following message:

     Microsoft Dynamics NAV

     Period Type: Date, Period Start: 01/07/14..31/07/14

    It seems that the virtual table Date does not work properly. The problem appears on all pages using this table and lock all users because the NST uses 100% of the CPU and up to 20GB of memory.

    Have you something to fix this problem?

  5. Jens Glathe says:

    Hi NSN,

    interesting piece of code… sounds like my enumerator problem with the "table information" virtual table. This also simply died in the report… @Thomas Hejlsberg: Could it be possible?

    with best regards

  6. Navision Magician says:

    @NSN: Your code example works fine in my installation (build 37221). It shows the correct error message:

    Period Type: Date, Period Start: 01/07/14..31/07/14

  7. NSN says:

    In fact, it does not concern only the Date table but also the Integer table (and I guess all virtual tables).

    We have found a workaround by deleting and creating the NST.

    I hope it definitely solves the problem.

  8. Pallea says:

    It would be very nice if you with the future updates skips the mandatory download of the orginal CD/DVD image in every rollup. It's +650mb waste of download when most people allready has got the the image-file.

    Simply make a link to the download page of the orignal CD/DVD images instead.

  9. Jens Glathe says:

    Hi Palle,

    I hope these DVD images are the updated ones… at least they have been the last few  CU's. It is a big relief that these images are available. Maybe, to satisfy both sides, it is possible to download them separately? Also, why do we still need to go through the hotfix process for it? As it is now, the CUs are more or less the "official" release at this point in time, or not?

    with best regards
