Cumulative Update 8 for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 has been released

Cumulative update 8 includes all application and platform hotfixes and regulatory features that have been released for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2.

The cumulative update includes hotfixes that apply to all countries and hotfixes specific to the following local versions:

    • AU - Australia
    • AT - Austria
    • BE - Belgium
    • CH - Switzerland
    • DE - Germany
    • DK - Denmark
    • ES - Spain
    • FI  - Finland
    • FR - France
    • IS - Iceland
    • IT - Italy
    • NA - North America
    • NL - Netherlands
    • NO - Norway
    • NZ - New Zealand
    • RU – Russia
    • SE - Sweden
    • UK - United Kingdom

Cumulative update 8 also introduces new functionality for exporting and importing companies and other data. You can export a company from a Microsoft Dynamics NAV database and import it into another database, and you can export and import other types of data such as global data, application data, and application objects.

In earlier versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you exported and imported this type of data as part of backing up and restoring databases. In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 CU8, you can do this by using the Export-NAVData and Import-NAVData Windows PowerShell cmdlets. You can also import and export data in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client.

For more information, see the following documents on the W1 version of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 CU8 download media:

  • MicrosoftDynamicsNAV2013R2CU8_ExportImportDataUsingNavDataFiles.pptx
  • MicrosoftDynamicsNAV2013R2CU8_ImportExportData.pdf

Please note that there is very limited support for exporting and importing data in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web client. Use the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client or the Windows PowerShell cmdlets instead.

So where can I find the CU8?  This link,…/NAV2013R2PlatformHotfixOverview, only shows CU7.

  2. Todd Scott says:

The KB 2971746 link points to CU8 but the page at the Overview of Released Platform Hotfixes for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 link does not.

    Hello Team,

I have tried the functionality and it seems to be a bug in it.

If I create a complete backup and restore it in a new database the table $ndo$cachesync will not be created.

When I try to connect the str brokes down.

Is this my mistake or a bug?

I create a empty database by sql server management studio and import may backup file so:

Import-NAVData -DatabaseServer localhost -DatabaseName 'NewDB' -IncludeApplication -IncludeApplicationData -IncludeGlobalData -AllCompanies -filename 'C:mydasi.navdata'

  4. Pete says:

When can we plan on the following documents to be available?

  5. Eva says:

    Hello Pete,

The two files that you are looking for are only available in the W1 download of CU8.

So if you downloaded a country-specific version, the files are not there.

On the W1 download, the two files are in the root.

    Best regards

  6. Morten Jensen (MSFT) says:

    Hi @wj_mm

The $ndo$cachesync table is not created when data is imported rather this is a table that the server creates “on the fly”. Guess is that the problem here is that the NST does not have necessary permissions on the new database that the data was imported into. The NST account needs to have the db_owner permission on that database otherwise it will not be able to access the data. The event log should reveal this.

    Can you confirm that?

    // Morten

  7. Pete says:

    Hi Eva,

Thank you for the clarification.  Seems a bit silly to me that I need to download two sets of CU8 media to get all the information needed.  If possible, I think these documents should be available outside of ANY media for greater visibility.

  8. Morten Jensen (MSFT) says:

    Hello Pete,

You're completely right, we'll include it in all country versions in the subsequent cumulative updates.

    Sorry for the inconvenience,

    Thank you!

The link to the KB throws up an error. Help !

  11. alex lang says:

the development client crashes if you try to use the c/al symbol menu in category "database" while scrolling down with the following error:

    Microsoft Dynamics NAV Development Environment

There are errors in the text conversion because text no. 101-17052 does not exist in the .stx file.

    Internal error: 47-1

it must be the function after "copycompany"

    anybody any ideas?
