A new video by the SIR team provides insight into how cybercriminals use marketing-like tactics to target consumers, how that can impact an organization. The video also provides guidance on how customers can stay protected against this type of attacks.

Another related video covers the subject of Rogue Security Software, a growing threat that’s damaging unsuspecting users. It discusses the latest Rogue Security Software findings from the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report Volume 10. Rogue security software, sometimes referred to as scareware, is software that appears to be beneficial from a security perspective but provides limited or no security, generates erroneous or misleading alerts, or attempts to lure users into participating in fraudulent transactions. In 2010, Microsoft cleaned almost 19 million infected systems with rogue security software.
