Patterns & Practices Day 2010: Highlights & Media

Quiero compartir con todos ustedes unos excelentes recursos sobre Patterns & Practices Day 2010, donde nuestro buen amigo Matias Woloski participo como speaker junto a otros expertos en el tema, aquí el detalle:

Patterns & Practices Day 2010: Highlights & Media by Julian Scopiano

“On May 5th we had the great opportunity to host our first “patterns & practices Day” event, where Eugenio Pace (Senior Program Manager at p&p), Scott Densmore (Developer Lead at p&p), and Matias Woloski (Architect at Southworks) delivered almost 3 hours of top quality content from the p&p team around cloud computing.

These conferences were organized jointly by Microsoft patterns & practices and Microsoft Argentina, and they took place at Southworks’ headquarters. People who attended the event were mostly architects from local companies and government agencies who work or have worked before with p&p deliverables. The good news is that we recorded all the sessions and also took many photos of the event so more people could enjoy this material later (see more information at the bottom).

After a brief opening by Martin Salias (Southworks) and Ezequiel Glinsky (Microsoft Argentina) where the event agenda was explained, the main speakers took the stage. From then onwards, the event was divided in three sessions:

  • An introduction to the p&p group, its relation with the community, and a look at its past, present, and future through their deliverables (by Eugenio).
  • A session about cloud patterns & practices focusing on the Windows Azure platform including a live demo by Scott and Matias.
  • An open Q&A session with the audience where Eugenio, Scott, and Matias answered questions regarding Windows Azure and p&p deliverables.

To sum up, we thought you’d enjoy some quick figures from this first “p&p Day”:

  • 159 minutes of quality content from patterns & practices were delivered to the attendees, across 3 separate sessions
  • 46 patterns & practices books (“ A Guide to Claims-Based Identity and Access Control ” and “ Microsoft Application Architecture Guide ”), 23 mouse pads, and 23 planning-poker card decks were handed out as souvenirs
  • 4 bottles of champagne and a good amount of home-made cocktail snacks were enjoyed by our attendees, once the final Q&A section moved to the Lounge room.

We would like to thank once again Eugenio, Scott, and Matias for trusting us to host this event. We sure hope we can host more events like these in the future. In the meantime, you can all enjoy some selected photos from the p&p Day and the videos of all the sessions:

Saludos.
