Around The World With MVPs: Frankfurt

Microsoft Technical Summit 2016

The biggest DX event for German speaking developers and IT pros took place at the beginning of this month. The Microsoft Technical Summit was held close to Frankfurt at Darmstadtium, a congress center right next to one of the leading technology universities in Germany. The conference was a huge success. It saw around 1300 attendees, and featured over 100 sessions –  including workshops on cyber security, Azure, Hybrid IT, IoT, and DevOps.

However before the summit officially took off, the local DX team was busy hosting a great prelude to the event: The TechConnect Community PreDay!

In Germany, TechConnect is a synonym for Microsoft community engagement. The program is joined by MVPs, Regional Directors (RD), Microsoft Technical Communities (MSTC), Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) and Technical Relationships, now TAG. The event featured 130 people attendees, including 30 MVPs.

The TechConnect Community PreDay was centered around diversity, inclusion and openness. And Microsoft noted the event should be a time for networking and making connections with everyone in attendance. Interesting sessions included a Microsoft Cloud Strategy Q&A session led by Executive Vice President at Microsoft Scott Guthrie, and an MVP Program Roundtable with Global Manager Karen Juhl and Marketing Director Danilo Bordini.

Check out what some MVPs had to say about the event:

“I was impressed about how many people attended the pre-day. For me it was important to meet the DX team and give feedback about the community work. It was a very well organized event with interesting topics. Especially, the diversity session impressed me.” Natascia Heil, Cloud and Datacenter Management MVP

“It was my first conference as a MVP. The Community PreDay was a great chance to meet other MVPs in person before the real conference. Thanks for the round table with Scott and your briefings [about] how you will improve the MVP program in the next months. The Q&A about the Azure German Cloud gave me some background information [about] how it works and what will come soon.” – Stefan Scherer, Cloud and Datacenter Management MVP

“The MVP PreDay was an outstanding event and a great opportunity to speak directly with the key Microsoft people in a private environment. I appreciate your work and I am glad to be part of this awesome group of special people.” – Siegfried Jagott, Office Servers and Services MVP
