Over 2,200 technology experts including 58 MVPs gathered in Belgium to participate in the 2013 TechDays Netherlands. Celebrating its 15th year, the three-day event boasted presentations by 37 MVPs as well as a keynote address by David Chappell of Chappell and Associates, showcasing his perspective on the changing world for applications and the need for developers to adopt new technologies.
Of the attending MVPs, 37 participated as speakers (some with multiple sessions) and 21 as Ask the Experts. The MVPs at TechDays Netherlands were truly international, hailing from such diverse countries as Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, the UK and the USA.
The MVP community was specifically called out and praised by Theo Rinsema, the GM for the Dutch subsidiary, in her keynote speech (in Dutch) which verifies the positive impact MVPs are having on business results, subject matter experts and technical evangelists. Other speeches, including Chappell’s and an IT professional keynote about private and public cloud, were recorded and are available to view.
TechDays Netherlands 2013, focused around the theme of Building Modern Applications, included 15 parallel tracks, covering all technologies and skill levels, 100+ speakers, 32 sponsors, side meetings with customers, press interviews, as well as over 160 different sessions this year, with developer and IT professional tracks happening on the same day for the first time, offering a wider variety of sessions.
One of the more popular experiences challenged attendees to develop an app in one hour. Over 40 Windows Phone apps were created and submitted to the store directly from the event, with potentially more to come.
Congratulations to attendees for your inspired contributions and to our MVPs, and we’ll look forward to next year’s event!
