What is SQL Saturday?

SQL Saturday is a one day free training event for SQL Server professionals, loosely patterned on the well known Code Camp model.  After the event, join the After party at the beautiful Historic Seville Quarter in downtown Pensacola.  The party will be held in Rosie O' Grady's, and will begin immediately after the event.  Come spend some time relaxing, networking, and talking some more to your favourite speakers!

Session highlights include:

DBA 101: Best Practices Every DBA Should Know - MVP Brad McGehee

This session, which is designed for part-time or full-time DBAs with one year or less of DBA experience, explores some of the key best practices that all DBAs should be familiar with. The session is divided into two parts. The first covers "Check and Verify," which covers one-time tasks that should be performed on all SQL Servers, and "On-Going Tasks," which cover periodic tasks all DBAs should be performing.

Introduction to SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) - MVP Brian Knight

In this session you'll learn the necessary information to launch a proof of concept at your company for Analysis Services. You'll learn how SSAS can speed up queries by pre-aggregating data and help you build scorecards and drag-and-drop ad hoc reports.

Introduction to SQL Server Statistics – MVP Andy Warren

This beginner to intermediate level session will introduce you to statistics, including how to create, manage, troubleshoot, and more! Statistics are a key part of getting solid and repeatable performance and is easily just as important as having indexes. Whether you're a DBA or trying to get by without one, this session will give you the information you need to know.

The Modern Resume: Building Your Brand – MVP Steve Jones

Steve Jones, founder of SQL Server Central talks about how to update your resume to fit into today's modern world, and take advantage of the tools offered by blogging, social networking, and more.
