I’ve seen references today from Liveside, blognewschannel and on MSDN on the as-yet-to-be-announced Microsoft LifeCam…
Provantage has them listed on their web site… ‘though they’re not in stock nor have they been announced by Microsoft Hardware. It will be interesting to see how these compare with the broad range of devices from the likes of Creative, a personal favourite, which comes with Creative’s Smart Face Tracking as well as other bundled applications.

The webcam image quality is great, but the microphone has a VERY low gain and there’s always a constant buzzing sound coming.
That’s odd. You might change the positioning of the camera and see if there is any grounding issues (such as a power cord in close proximity to the USB cable). Otherwise a call to tech support should help determine the trouble. I’ve used all of the new LifeCams and haven’t run into any audio or video problems, and happy that we now have Vista drivers for the webcams.
