Who wants even MORE FREE EBOOKS and resources this year? If so, you’ve come to the right place as I’m once again kicking off my annual FREE MICROSOFT EBOOK GIVEAWAY extravaganza!
If you have been a follower of mine in the past, you know that several years ago I tried a simple concept: Let’s try giving away a bunch of free eBooks, reference guides, Step-By-Step Guides, and other informational resources to our customers and partners around the world. Needless to say, the concept was extremely the first year (over 1,000,000 FREE eBooks downloaded), and it has grown and grown over the past few years (over 3.5 Million downloaded two years ago and we surpassed that last year!) So, haw many FREE eBooks can we give away this year? Well, that’s completely up to you.
Before we get to this year’s list of FREE eBooks, a few answers to common questions I receive during my FREE EBOOK GIVEAWAY:
- How many can you download?
- ANSWER: As many as you want! This is a FREE eBook giveaway, so please download as many as interest you.
- Wow, there are a LOT listed here. Is there a way to download all of them at once?
- ANSWER: Yes, please see the note below on how to do this.
- Can I share a link to your post to let others know about this giveaway?
- ANSWER: Yes, please do share the good news with anyone you feel could benefit from this.
- I know you said they are “Free,” but what’s the catch?
- ANSWER: There is no catch. They really are FREE. This consider it a, “Thank you,” for being a reader of my blog and a customer or partner of Microsoft.
- Ok, so if they are free and you’re encouraging us to share this with others, can I post a link to your post here on sites like Reddit, FatWallet, and other deal share sites to let them know, or is that asking too much?
- ANSWER: Please do. In fact, I would encourage you to share a link to this post on any deal site you feel their users could benefit from the FREE eBooks and resources included below. Again, I WANT to give away MILLIONS of FREE eBooks!
- Are these “time-bombed” versions of the eBooks that stop working after a certain amount of time or reads?
- ANSWER: No, these are the full resources for you to use.
Ok, ready for some FREE eBooks? Below is the collection I am posting this year (which includes a ton of new eBooks & resources, as well as some of the favorites from last year):

Thank you again for being a reader of my Blog and I hope you find this year’s collection of FREE eBooks and other resources to be very helpful to you, your colleagues, friends, or family.
Thank you and have a wonderful day,

This posting is provided “AS IS” with no warranties, and confers no rights

There are duplicate links in the ‘Download All’ txt file, and some of the DL’s have indecipherable names and no file-type extension.
thanks ☺
You are welcome.
Thanks for the excellent resource, Eric!
Why did you go to great lengths to make this page look like some sort of cheap advertising site? Is there a joke here that I’m not seeing? Why make your site look like you are hawking some sort of crème to restore hair, increase your virility, or make one smarter?
The books, if properly used, can indeed make one smarter, but come on, man, think design! 🙂
Cheap advertising site? That’s being very generous. But at least we get free ebooks…. even if the page looks like a Pricewater House sweepstakes page, yet cheaper.
Nothing for Exchange 🙁
Hmmm… Looks like my Exchange books fell off the post. I will get them added back in. Not sure what happened there. Thanks for calling it out.
Thanks again for pointing that out. I have added Exchange eBooks to the list above.
I couldn’t find any books specifically for Exchange. Do you have any of these? Thank you again for this!
Hmmm… Looks like my Exchange books fell off the post. I will get them added back in. Not sure what happened there. Thanks for calling it out.
Thanks again for pointing that out. I have added Exchange eBooks to the list above.
Can you put them on docs.com (which is by the way owned by Microsoft)
If you look in the FAQ I posted under the “Download All” post, one of the things I pointed out is that I intentionally do not post a ZIP file or single file download (such as on Docs.com) for the eBooks because I always ensure I honor the original publisher’s rights to modify, update, edit, and/or remove their works that they have graciously shared with us. By me pointing directly to the eBooks themselves, if a publisher wants to correct an error in their eBook, append additional data, release an updated version etc., they can do so and re-publish, and my links will then surface the most up-to-date version of their works. If I were to publish a ZIP file or mirror of the eBooks somewhere, then the author’s would lose their ability to update their works, and that does not honor the rights of the publisher to update their works as they see fit. As such, I will always provide the links to download the original works and have advised those who ask if they can share my links with others that sharing the links are fine, but sharing the eBook files themselves should not be done (as that would remove the publisher’s rights to update their works).
Great work, Thanks for the ebook
You are welcome.
Thanks a lot!
early christmas ;:-)
You are welcome.
This is cool! Thanks a lot. 🙂
Great idea!
Are there other languages available?
I am not currently aware of other language versions of these books. I am sharing the original works in the formats and languages as they were made available.
Tolle Idee, eBooks zu verschenken, aber warum keine in deutscher Sprache?
Thank you very much. From Honduras.
Note.
Do you have some books on software development? Web Development / software architecture.
Thanks 😀
I get a kick out of how in college we would have dreaded having to read many of these books. But now that the knowledge therein results in more revenue yo us, people can’t wait to download hundreds of books.
This is a great way to reach out to the IT community. Kudos!
Thank you very much!
I am able to download all with Jdownloader 2 (Beta-Version) just perfectly.
Thanks alot for the free sharing of knowledge.
By the way, a PDF called ‘Windowstechnicalpreviewgq.pdf’ seems to be offline. I can’t estimate what Ebook that might be.
Might be ‘Introducing Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview’, but from what I see, the pdf’s are called different than ‘Windowstechnicalpreviewgq.pdf’ – might be part of a Ebook bundle, which could explain why it’s not in the Ebooks list on this site.
How long the download work? I mean if I can wait for my new PC with the download?
Thanks a lot! My team found the Azure and Power BI books useful.
Hello, how about any .NET/Visual studio development books? Thanks
Nice. Very much appreciated. Good stuff. I like the office quick guides.
hi, what the fu… is this
how are the german versions????
BAD DAD BAD Microsoft its not friendly
A big load of thanks for the e-books! Will certainly help me and my company forward with SharePoint.
Thank you for the great resources! Any chance you would have the Tips and Tricks books for Office 2016 – Word, Excel, Publisher, and Access (you have Outlook and One Note)?
I second this request. This would be extremely helpful!
Thanks for the helpful resources Eric! 🙂
“Exchange 2016 Step by Step for anyone” has invalid link (refers to “Best Practices for Virtualizing & Managing Exchange 2013”)
I made the corrections to that link late last week when it was brought to my attention so please try that one again. Apologies for the broken link originally.
Thanks Eric
Fee things? Thank you : )
Many thanks! These are really nice books, I will take a look on them.
I don’t want to be greedy, but by any chance you have anything on .NET or C# space?
Right place for Right peoples
Wonderfull Collection and selfless sharing! Million Thanks!
Would love if you could add for Big Data for Azure 🙂 Thanks in advance 🙂
Thank you very much, especially for the PowerShell ‘cheat sheets’, I am looking forward to spending quite a while expanding my knowledge with these.
Hey, great resource, am making use of the Office Quick Start Guides, Sql Server and Windows 10. is there nothing at all for Yammer?
No MIM/FIM/ILM/MIIS? 🙁
Anything on Microsoft R?
Your link for “Exchange 2016 Step by Step for anyone” actually points to “Best Practices for Virtualizing & Managing Exchange 2013”
Thanks for the heads up on the incorrect link for this book. I have updated the link in the post. My apologies for the typo.
The embedded link for “Administrating Skype for Business Server 2015 Step by Step for Anyone” need to be updated FYI
Current: http://ligman.me/29uHKK
Should be: http://ligman.me/29uHKKV
Thanks for the heads up on the broken link for the Administering Skype for Business Server 2015 Step By Step for Anyone. I have updated the link in the post. My apologies for the typo.
Is there anything for eDiscovery? We have one of our customers’ legal department asking for help with it.
I would love to see a full user guide for office 2016 for Mac.
Could you give some indication of how long the offer will be available? I want to notify members of our computer club but not if it will end soon.
Thank you.
Thank Eric Ligman,
Your a legend
Amazing, thanks a lot Eric Ligman.
windowstechnicalpreviewqg.pdf is offline
I have updated the link, so please try that one again.

Thanks a Lot Mr. Eric my team in our school district are all excited about this.
Thanks for sharing. Are you going to add Dynamics NAV books at some point?
Any possibilities for 70-532 dumps? I know have asked more here 🙂
This is very very very wonderful – thanks so much!
Great idea to give away eBooks, but why not in German?
I am not currently aware of other language versions of these books. I am sharing the original works in the formats and languages as they were made available.
Thank you for sharing good stuff…. Stay Blessed…. 🙂
Website is down?
ligman.me
Is it just me, or does everyone get ERR_TIMED_OUT on every download?
Never mind, it works now… 🙂
Thank you very much~!
Xamarin book is really good. Practical.
If you can add C# book (or C# + database ), I will be happy~~~~~~
I have an idea.
In the past (in the VB6 age), Microsoft used to make documentation as CHM. (indexed and searchable content)
It was very good. Easy to copy & paste. Easy to browser and search.
I think CHM is much better than PDF. If Microsoft will generated these documentation (and other) as CHM, will be perfect.
Eh.. I found it.

Great collection! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Can you please share Data Science E Books
Eric, thank you so much. I am a Professor teaching in IT at a Community College. Can I download these ebooks and then share them with my students? Or can I only direct them to your website. Having found many links to Microsoft blogs where employees are sharing ebooks, they tend not to last very long, and if I assign the books to my students, and then they are not available… it just doesn’t work.
Is there a Power Point 2013 Keyboard shortcut? Also what about an Access 2016 Quick start guide? Thanks!
This is wonderful – thank you! A lot of great reading ahead.
Thanks for lot of books. please upload Biztalk Server 2010 books too… Thanks in advance.
Thank you very much for free ebook, can you also provide something related asp.net, C#
Why no books on Unix?
Thanks very much
Thanks!, but are there any other books about web development?

Not seeing any O365 and Lync Ebooks, Will appreciate if you can upload some of them.
I know “beggars can’t be choosers”… got any Visio eBooks?
Any books on SCOM?
Hi Eric,
Is their any material for sccm12(system center configuration manager).
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
KP
Hi,
I am an author, writing books on how to develop applications for the .Net platform. Now that you are giving away free ebooks, what do you think is the future for authors like us.
Thanks
Bharati
Awesome !!
There isn´t book of C# ?
I need book of C# 😀
Are there any plans to place anything here specific to unit testing?
Should we download them NOW in case they´re not going to be online for a long term or can i relax and just safe the link?
However, thanksalot for them tons of stuff 😉
Really appreciate all the information but one of the items I really want Dynamics CRM 2015 User Guide is not accessible. Can you update the link?
Please more security ebooks
Many thanks for the tremendous resource. There is a link of particular interest that is broken, however — I can’t get to Deploying Windows 10 in a School District. Is that still on offer?
First of all I would like to thank you for putting so much work into this, Eric 🙂 This is incredible!
But there are a couple of links that doesn’t work:
https://download.microsoft.com/download/2/7/1/27183A48-7EA1-4F17-8293-CA0877701BDC/Deploy-Windows-10-in-a-school-district.pdf

I’m especially interested in reading “Deploy-Windows-10-in-a-school-district” so if you get the time to look at the broken links, it would be much appreciated.
thank you very much :p
Thank you and God Bless..
Thanks, Eric. I noticed that only a couple of the titles dealt with security. Any plans to release some more of these in the future?
Terry
Thanks so much this is great!
Hi Eric,
Is it possible for you to add Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013 or higher version of the same eBooks. That obviously, would be of great help.
Thanks,
Gulshan
Superb initiative, open, educational and currency/ authors rights’ maintained with links rather than “Dump em all” approach – thank you Eric.
We will post your links on our website also.
Just wanted to let you know some of the download links are not working currently:
Dynamics CRM eBook & Quick Card Collection
Deploy Windows 10 in a School District
Dynamics CRM 2015 User Guide
Mr. Ligman,
Thanks for the loot!
thank you very much it is very useful to me
Do you have any references on Dynamics AX?
Hi,
I am looking for the book of Security fundamentals 98-367.
Thanks
Karan
Can you please add books on Office 365 Development?
Exelente aporte, muchas gracias y los mejores deseos para el nuevo año.

Ecuador
Thank you very much Eric for this. Excellence resource!
Yikes! This is supposed to be a zip file, but it has a .txt extension and when I try to download in Edge, I get an error message saying it can’t be downloaded…
“Dynamics CRM eBook & Quick Card Collection”
Thanks a ton for sharing these Ebooks. Certainly this will help me and my fellow colleagues to widen their knowledge base. The books on SharePoint and SQL Server are just amazing.
Looking forward to some material focussing on programming standards in Visual Studio 2015 and SharePoint 2016 Best Business Practices.
Thanks a lot for offer to download free books.I have chosen mostly Quick start guides 🙂
Thanks a lot Eric!
This being a Microsoft site, I can’t get my head around the fact there’s no way to sort or filter this list, no description of contents (2-pages fact sheets are dumped together with 200-pages books), and file extensions are missing, so you have to guess/remember/add them manually. Incidentally, some of those books are available in the free section of Microsoft’s e-book store, where those drawbacks don’t apply.
Nothing for Dot Net programming
Dear Mr. Eric Ligman:
Will there be publications that have been published in Spanish?
The Latino public is a very nice community that also uses these programs and would like to have reliable information about how to get the most benefit from the correct use of those programs.
Thanks for youir prompt response.
Best regards
Pedro Saturno G.
Thanks for the inquiry, Pedro. Since I am not the author of the works, I cannot speak on their behalf regarding Spanish versions of their works. I am not currently aware of Spanish versions of these.
Unfortunately nothing for Dynamics AX or Dynamics 365 ;(
All of these ebooks are very usefull for me to learn at home. Thank you very much.
