As you know, the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App was originally launched with the concept of helping you, our Microsoft partners, more easily find and connect with information here at Microsoft. With the new 3.0 version of the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App, which is now available in the Windows Phone Marketplace, we are expanding this functionality even further, while also improving on how we deliver the latest and greatest information to you.
In the new 3.0 version of the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App, you will notice several new updates, and there’s one update that won’t be readily apparent to you when you first get in, but it is one that dramatically changes how the information is made available to you, which should have a very positive impact on your overall experience with the app itself. Here’s a quick overview, and some demos, of the changes and additions in the 3.0 version of the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App:
|Updated appearance: From the moment you start up the new 3.0 version of the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App, you will instantly see the updated and improved visual appearance in everything from the splash screen itself to the main page and tiles. Click any of the images to the right to see them in full size.|
|Expanded data feeds: Some of the feedback I have received about the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App regarding requested updates has been a drill-down into some of the feeds to be able to view and/or pin individual feeds within some of the bigger categories. One example is the U.S. Partner Team feed under “Countries.” Partners have mentioned a desire to view and/or pin just the regional blog for the region they are in vs. the all-up U.S. Partner category, or the ability to access a specific exec (like Cindy Bates or Jenni Flinders) or just the TS/2 feed independently. In the 3.0 version, you will see this for several of the feeds (Office, Windows, and Microsoft News are just a few examples)||

|Virtual Chat (vChat): Here is a completely new addition to the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App in the 3.0 version. We have added a Virtual Chat agent that allows you to enter questions you have and instantly get back suggested answers for that question. In addition, it tracks the questions you ask during your session and collects them for you in the “Conversation” pane of the vChat component. Also, it includes Top Questions that others have asked and one-click access to email or phone our support teams.||

To help you get a better feel for the new vChat component in the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App, here is a short demo video showing you vChat in action within the app itself:
Additional feeds: As always, based on input and feedback, as well as new and exciting things happening here, additional feeds have been added to the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App in several of the sections, including the People, Products, and Events sections.
Dynamic Updating: Speaking of additional feeds, Dynamic Updating in the new 3.0 version of the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App is the feature that I mentioned would not be readily apparent to you when you launch the app, but it will drastically change the way you get new information within the app. In previous versions of the app, when partners requested additional feeds be added to the app, or when we announced something new here at Microsoft which would justify a new item in one of the categories within the app, it would require an update to the app itself, which meant we were pushing a new update out through the Windows Phone Marketplace and required you to update your app to get it. Since I have tried to keep the number of updates to a reasonable level so you are not having to download an update weekly, this could mean a somewhat long delay between the time the request or activity took place and the time the solution was delivered to you through the app. Now with dynamic updating in the 3.0 version of the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App, we can deliver updates to the feeds in the app in real-time, using the power of Windows Azure!
You have to see it to believe it, so here is a video demo of Dynamic Updating in action in the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App, so you can see how it works and how updated feeds will be added, removed, and changed in the future through the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App:
Now before you ask, the Office Next Blog that is shown in the demo is still in the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App, it has just been incorporated into the Office feed itself, vs. being a separate feed under Products.
As always, please continue to keep the feedback and suggestions coming in on how you are using the Microsoft Partner Info Mobile App today and how we can continue to make it even more valuable to all of you. Also, if you feel there are feeds not included in the app today that you think should be there, whether they are Country, Product, Event, or People feeds, please let me know and we will continue to evaluate all requests that come in from our partners and our internal teams here at Microsoft.
