Announcing a Microsoft Small Business Competency?

Thanks again to all of you that joined us for yesterday’s Interactive Leadership Forums. Given the online commentary and chatter taking place today resulting from the mere mention of the launching of a Microsoft Small Business Competency as part of the Microsoft Partner Network during the sessions, I’d say they have definitely succeeded in the enthusiasm and buzz categories. And on the topic of enthusiasm, let’s just say that sometimes our enthusiasm for sharing good news can be slightly ahead of our readiness to provide detailed information on something that ultimately will be good for our channel and our customers. This happens to be one of those times…

So let’s clear the air a little on what you should take away from the enthusiastic comments by the presenters yesterday about the Microsoft Small Business Competency. While it is true that we will be launching a Small Business Competency in the Spring, the details around what the competency benefits and requirements will ultimately be are still being vetted and partner feedback is still be solicited, just as it has been throughout the year since we announced we would be evaluating it this year. All of us here at Microsoft are committed to “getting the competency right;” therefore, we won’t be releasing any additional details about the Microsoft Small Business Competency until the competency launches and we have all of the final details worked out. At that time, both customers and partners will have a clear understanding of the value that the Small Business Competency can offer them.

Thanks again for your participation in the Interactive Leadership Forums yesterday and for being members of the Microsoft Partner Network.
