Ever since I posted my, “Announcing: Microsoft Security Essentials available FREE to Small Businesses in October!” post here on the blog back on September 22nd, one of the top questions I have been receiving is, “When in ‘early October’ does this change take place allowing small businesses to use Microsoft Security Essentials on up to 10 PCs?” Well, I am very happy to let everyone know that tomorrow, October 7, 2010, is the day that Microsoft Security Essentials becomes available to small businesses on up to 10 PCs for no cost!
What this means is that starting tomorrow, October 7, 2010, the licensing change will go into effect which allows small businesses to download and install Microsoft Security Essentials on up to 10 PCs in their company. As you may recall from my original post, prior to this change, Microsoft Security Essentials was only available to home based businesses and end consumers. This change on October 7th lets small businesses save money and grow their businesses by utilizing Microsoft Security Essentials, which is powered by the same core malware protection engine that drives Microsoft’s enterprise solutions, as a no-cost solution for protection from viruses, spyware and other malicious threats on up to 10 PCs.
By the way, let me answer another question I received from my original post, in case you are wondering it. Question: “If you are making this change to allow small businesses to utilize Microsoft Security Essentials on up to 10 PCs, what do you recommend companies with more than 10 PCs use?” Answer: If you operate a small business with more than 10 PCs, we recommend that you consider using the Forefront line products to address your security needs. Take a look at my original post and you can find links included to help you locate a Microsoft partner near you that can help with determining the right Microsoft security solution for you, as well as helping you learn more about what the Forefront line products can provide for your business.
If you read my Happy 1st birthday, Microsoft Security Essentials post last week, you probably saw that during the one year that Microsoft Security Essentials has been available, over 30 million customers in 74 different countries around the world have turned to the trusted security and quiet protection that Microsoft Security Essentials provides. Now, Microsoft is incredibly excited to offer Microsoft Security Essentials to the small business community as well.
Thank you and have a wonderful day,
