What CAL rights do I have using downgrade rights if I purchase SBS 2008 CALs?

Now that we have moved to Standard and Premium CALs in SBS 2008 from just a single CAL model that we had in SBS 2003, there have been some questions on what downgrade CAL rights you get if you purchase SBS 2008 Standard or SBS 2008 Premium CALs. In order to eliminate any confusion about this topic and make sure you are all aware of the rights you get, I am posting it here. Below is a chart showing specifically this answer:

As you can see, if you purchase SBS 2008 CALs (Standard or Premium), you have downgrade rights to access either Standard or Premium SBS 2003 R2, SBS 2003, or SBS 2000 servers, just as if you had SBS 2003 R2, SBS 2003, or SBS 2000 CALs through your downgrade rights.

Want to see more about your downgrade rights with SBS 2008? Take a look at the SBS Downgrade Rights page where you will find the chart above plus much more.

Thank you and have a wonderful day,
