If I were to walk up to you one day and hand you a package of Microsoft Office Pro 2003 and say, “Here you go. This is yours to take this home and use. Have a nice day.” Would you take it?
Or what if you were sitting at your desk and I stopped by the office and said, “Hey, I see you’re using Microsoft Office 2003. Here’s a bunch of free tutorials and web based training to help you learn about all of the cool features inside.” Would you take it?
Maybe, you’re sitting at your desk trying to find the information you need on TechNet Online, which never takes more than a minute or two, right? What if I stopped by and said, “Here’s a free insiders pass that will show you where the information you need is located on TechNet so you don’t have to do the searching for hours on end.” Would that be helpful?
Believe it or not, many of you reading this have these things waiting for you, you just need to claim them. Seriously.
Remember back in 2003 when Microsoft announced all of the new “Enhancements” we were adding to Software Assurance? The items listed above are just a few of these enhancements that have been added; however, many people have not activated or claimed these items which they have available to them and there is no cost to do so. The first one listed above is the Office Home Use Program. The second example is eLearning. The third example is TechNet Online Concierge.
For instance, every license of Microsoft Office that you have Software Assurance on gets you a free home-use license to run Microsoft Office Pro 2003. So if you have Software Assurance on (10) Office licenses, you have (10) Office Pro Home-Use licenses available to you to use. So here is my request of you, if you have Software Assurance on any Microsoft software you have at your company, please go online and activate your Software Assurance benefits and start using these things which are waiting for you.
- Step 1: Go to: http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/programs/sa/default.mspx and click the “Activate Your Benefits” link on the right-hand side of the page.
- Step 2: Click on the “Software Assurance Benefits Training” link on the right-hand side of the page and view the step by step instructions on how to activate, manage, and use your Software Assurance benefits.
- Step 3: Tell someone else you know to activate and claim their benefits as well.
