"Nokia’s new phablet – Lumia 1520" by Moalla Ilani

Thanks to Moalla Ilani for the very first post of our blog..

Since November 2011, and Nokia Microsoft partnership are astonishing the world with their amazing Lumia devices, which till now I am not finding a word that can best fit the ground/wall breaking device!

And today, Nokia-Windows Phone, in its dominant trends of the smartphone industry, had the race to operate a Lumia device with quad-code chipsets, 1080p HD resolution, and gigantic screen that was just short of what Android users enjoyed. Well! it’s the Nokia Lumia 1520 the world’s smartphone splendor, that Nokia meets those demands and more.

It has the quad-core processor, big display, HD resolution to go along with a strong camera. Nokia finally built a windows phone phablet that checks off the core features that people have requested. Lumia 1520 is the biggest Lumia, literally and figuratively, to date.

History has shown that smartphone buyers believe bigger is better, well in this case the saying is in its place! Lumia 1520 has (6.4 x 3.36 inch, 0.33 inch thin), with slope edges making it more comfortable for handling.

Before moving on, I would like to double back to one particular hardware feature that took my attention, it’s the multiple microphones located above the camera on the back of the device. That Nokia included for directional stereo recordings, for a better job of capturing sound coming from objects in front of your cam.

Going back to the front, Lumia 1520 fitted with Gorilla Glass 2, Corning’s scratch resistant glass, and featured beautiful Clear Black screen with more pixels, of 6-inch IPS LCD screen of resolution 1920x1080 of pixel density 368 pixel/inch. With vibrant LCD colors and brighter whites than the AMOLED panel, and still having great display in direct sunlight. And we can’t forget the 1520’s capacitive touchscreen is also sensitive enough that you can use it with gloves on, as we saw in latest Lumias.

The device having a 3.5 mm headphone jack at the top, and micro USB port at the button. NANO SIM card next to a micro SD slot of 64 GB (16GB internal Storage)! At the back a strong volume level speaker that maintains clear audio quality.

Going back for performance, with a quad-core 2.2GHZ Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB RAM! That’s really above what we expected for a windows phone 8 that was never slow except while first load of some apps, the lag that has been cut lately. Feeling faster than other windows handsets, people should get excited with prospect of HD games that will elevate the gaming experience on Windows Mobile.

From performance to battery life, I was surfing through GSM Arena website and I was confused by the results the battery life test gave! Making Lumia 1520’s 3,400mAH admirable battery, top listed. I will be content with the score of 28 hours 34 minutes call time!

And at last I will never forget to mention the 20-megapixel Nokia’s pure view technology back camera, make your life more interactive, especially with Nokia’s latest pro, smart cam and storyteller apps! The lens uses aperture of f/2.4, with sensor size of 1/2.5 inch, with optical image stabilization and a focal length of 25 mm, and ISO of 4000.
